For over 70 years, The Norwegian Data Association has created meeting places for knowledge sharing among those who are digitalizing Norway. With 8,500 members and course and conference work driven by volunteer enthusiasts, DND needed a seamless and user-friendly solution for booking, check-in, partner packages and finances. They found this in Checkin.
The Norwegian Data Association (DND) is Norway's largest network for IT and digitalization professionals. The association was founded in 1953 as a continuation of the "Punch Card Club Team," named after the early punch card machine – a precursor to the modern computer – and has since built a proud and long history.
But even though there's a historical aura around both the association and its traditional name, their 8,500 members represent the future. As Norway is now being digitalized, the association's enthusiasts are at the forefront of creating arenas where IT professionals can build networks and share knowledge we can use to create a society that's good for people to be part of.
"The heart of the association is our members," explains Managing Director Hege Svendsen. With more than 60 professional groups, councils and committees, conferences, breakfast meetings, exhibitions, courses and meetups are constantly being organized.
The initiatives come from engaged enthusiasts who want to contribute. The enthusiasts handle the planning and professional content, while the association's employees provide the framework. "We facilitate letting volunteerism flourish," Svendsen adds.
Whether you have 3 or 300 events per year, it's important to choose a registration solution that can streamline administrative tasks and provide a smooth experience for both organizers and participants.
Hege Svendsen at DND had a clear need: "We needed a more seamless solution that made it easier for our customers to book and buy tickets, while also wanting to become more efficient and avoid time-wasters," Svendsen explains.
The Norwegian Data Association now uses Checkin to sell tickets, check in participants at events, and also for digital sales of partner packages.
"Checkin is a very professional system. It looks great on our websites and is easy to integrate with other software. The check-in function is intuitive and easy to learn for newcomers, which is worth its weight in gold when we work with volunteers. We want to get participants into the hall as quickly as possible, where the exciting stuff happens. That's where Checkin makes us more efficient. We are extremely satisfied," Svendsen concludes.
