Our story
The Checkin story
It all started with a vision to organize the financials of volunteer organizations. Today, Checkin is a leading registration system for businesses and organizations across Norway.

2008
The company is established by Kristian Løining, who works as a volunteer and sees the need for an event registration system. The vision is to help event organizers manage their finances. -
2012
The good word has spread about the system, and many new customers flock in. Kristian quits his job as a teacher and starts working full-time on Checkin. After long days of development in a garage loft, many new features are introduced. -
2016
An external chairman of the board is engaged – Professor Roy Mersland, who sees that Checkin has commercial potential. -
2017
Sales and marketing manager Kjell Ingvar comes on board, and the company starts scaling up. Significant growth, and we hire in sales, support, and development specialists. More and more customers see the advantage of flexible forms and automatic invoicing. -
2020
The rapid growth continue, and we decide to raise external funding to further fuel our expansion. -
2021
Skagerak Capital becomes a shareholder, injecting a total of approximately 15 MNOK in capital, ensuring further growth. With 20 employees on board, we’re planning to expand internationally. -
2022
Checkin grows, and we move into new and larger premises. The pandemic is coming to an end, and the market is taking off! A new event module and rebranding of Checkin are launched. Checkin positions itself as "The accountant's choice." -
2024
Checkin expands its presence internationally, starting with Sweden and Danmark. -
2025
We hire a new CEO, and open a commercial office in Copenhagen, serving the Nordics!
