Oslo Business Forum burst onto the scene in 2016, founded by two bright-eyed economics students from BI. Fast forward, and it’s now a coveted hotspot for business leaders worldwide. Their annual conference aims to spark inspiration and empower leaders to make a global impact.

Starting with just a spark of an idea and a cool half a million kroner each
Marius is half of the dynamic duo who made waves in 2016 by landing Sir Alex Ferguson, the former Manchester United coach, for Oslo Business Forum’s debut event. It took two years and their own investment funds to pull this off.
Back then, their event company was known as Walkover AS. The two BI students each invested half a million kroner (just what was needed!) to bring their dream of a high-impact conference to life, with Mr. Ferguson as the star speaker.
Along with his partner, Christoffer Omberg, Røed Wang orchestrated a conference at the Oslo Concert Hall with around 850 attendees. The lineup also featured Øystein Stray Spetalen, Hanne Kristin Rohde, and Jan Grønbech, among others.
Learned the ropes of marketing “the hard way”
The marketing strategy for that first conference might make the founders chuckle today, but it taught them invaluable lessons about branding and what truly grabs attention.
They figured out, through some trial and error, that building the conference’s reputation and then marketing smartly and digitally were key to selling tickets. After all, it’s unrealistic to expect a flood of sign-ups for a conference that’s off the radar.
They tackled this by using sharp, targeted content on social media and taking advice from seasoned pros like Petter Stordalen and Thomas Alsgård.
Hosted multiple standout conferences since 2016
Since 2016, Oslo Business Forum has hosted 9 stellar conferences featuring big names like Randi Zuckerberg, Garry Kasparov, and Barack Obama. Each event sees more participants, and major players like Ferd and Equinor rave about the conferences.
